Materials & innovation night + student career fair
On Tuesday, 11th November 2025, the SAMPE Boston Chapter hosted its Materials & Innovation Night + Student Career Fair. Almost a dozen local materials & equipment suppliers took part in the event, displaying their materials and capabilities. There were approximately 100 attendees from industry, government, and academia. A dozen students from local universities (the University of Massachusetts Lowell, the University of Southern Maine, & Northeastern University) presented posters highlighting their research work in the field of advanced materials and processes.

We are pleased to thank our sponsors for their support and help in growing the advanced materials and processes in the northeast. Many of our sponsors displayed their exciting new materials, processes, & equipment including, high temperature carbon/carbon materials, carbon and glass fibers, commingled yarns, textile reinforcements, advanced resins, prepreg tapes, fabrics, and braids, ancillary/processing materials & technologies, and automation, textile, & composite processing equipment!
Student Career Fair
A dozen students from our local student chapters (University of Massachusetts Lowell, University of Southern Maine, & Northeastern University) took part in a Posters Session sponsored by the SAMPE Boston Chapter Diamond Sponsors, Boston Materials & Textron Systems. A wide range of research projects were presented from PEEK polymer processing impacts on crystallinity, to adhesion studies for glass-ceramic materials, to additive manufacturing projects, to piezoelectric foams. It was apparent to all involved that the state of the engineering curriculum and hands on engineering training in each these schools is very strong. While the competition was tough, the winners of the project awards were:

Networking and Personal Growth
The exhibitors, students, and attendees spent several hours networking, meeting with customers & future customers, talking advanced materials and processes, and catching up with old friends and colleagues. We believe that all the exhibitors, students, and attendees have developed an appreciation for the deep roots that advanced materials have in our region and agree that the future is bright. With today’s uncertain economic future, it is more important than ever to keep on top of the direction and trends in our industry, and to network with your friends and colleagues. We will look forward to see you all at our next event!
