Hiring Profile

 Job Title:  Technical Lead  

The successful candidate for this position will serve as a technical resource in support of Research and Development, plant quality, manufacturing, and customers.

The candidate must be independent and highly motivated as well as having substantial core knowledge of, and experience with, polymer processing and characterization techniques.  The successful candidate will be expected to lead and support multidisciplinary projects from conception through manufacturing transfer.  The candidate will participate in the supervisory process, including training and coordinating work for key projects.

 Primary Duties:

  • Develop new products and processes through manipulation of polymer structure property relationships.
  • Define new material and process requirements for product development
  • Provide technical assistance to optimize and enable existing manufacturing processes
  • Conduct statistical analysis of processes and properties
  • Evaluate and characterize polymer performance behavior

 Experience Required:

  • 5 years minimum relevant experience, specifically industrial experience with fluoropolymers and other non-commodity polymers
  • Successful development and transition to manufacturing of new materials or polymeric products

Education Requirements:

  • Ph.D. Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science or equivalent field

Specific Skills & Experience:

  • Strong and proven product development skills
  • Use of Phase-Gate processes for product and process development
  • Successful transition from product concept and definition through commercial scale up
  • In depth knowledge of Polymer structure-property relationships
  • Hands on experience with polymer processing techniques with specialty polymers
  • Synthesis and polymer design experience would be beneficial
  • Understanding of most analytical techniques available
  • Diverse polymer experience
  • Strong capabilities in statistical design and analysis of experiments
  • Detail and results oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication and documentation skills
  • Exceptional computer skills for word processing, database, presentation, statistical analysis, spreadsheets
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical personnel
  • Ability to mentor junior staff members
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently
  • Familiar with GLP, GMP, and ISO quality systems
