Campbell\Carlson LLC has been retained by General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products to conduct a search for the Senior Director of Operations for Advanced Materials in Marion, Virginia. General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products (GDATP) provides customers with advanced capabilities through five strategic business units: Advanced Materials, Detection Systems, Gun Systems, Weapon Systems, and AxleTech International. The fast-growing ATP division has approximately 2700 employees located in nine facilities nationwide.

General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products (http://www.gdatp.com) is a division of the $29 billion defense industry giant, General Dynamics Corporation (NYSE: GD). Specific responsibilities include:

·         Planning, directing, and overseeing operational policies, objectives, and initiatives.

·         Evaluating current and proposed systems and procedures and implementing changes as necessary.

·         Directing manufacturing and business process improvement initiatives.

·         Ensuring that all production commitments are met in accordance with ATP standards and customer requirements.

·         Additional areas of responsibilities include:  quality, environmental, health and safety, manufacturing and industrial engineering, supply chain management, facilities, capital investment and capacity planning.

·         Less than 10% travel.

The ideal candidate will be qualified by:

·         Bachelor’s degree required in a technical discipline or business/operations management. Master’s degree desirable in technical discipline or business/operations management.

·         Minimum fifteen years’ experience in diverse manufacturing and supply chain management.

·         Composites industry experience required; aerospace and/or defense industry ideal.

·         Significant management experience in manufacturing and industrial /manufacturing engineering.

·         Program management and business process improvement experience highly desirable.

·         Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to integrate large amounts of data and information.

·         Demonstrated prior change leadership success; exceptional communication and motivational skills.
