Elections: Everyone ran unopposed - we will have the same officers for the 2009-2010 season.
Fall Schedule: September Meeting will be the students presentations at the Lowell Beer Works. October Meeting will hopefully be held at the Andover Wyndham, Don Ensign to talk with Oxford Polymers for a presentation.
We Discussed Potential locations for tours: Mentis Sciences – Manchester, NH – Braiding (John Dignam) Radant Technologies – Stow, MA – Radome Manufacturing (Mike Polito) ACPM – Plainfield, CT – Prepregging (Dave Young) Specialty Materials, Lowell, MA – Boron, specialty fibers (Monty Treasure) TPI - Warren, RI – Wind Blade Manufacturing (Steve Nolet) Gary Sharpless, ITT, EDO, Fiber Innovations
SAMPE Foundation: We decided on making two $5000 donations to the SAMPE Foundation. One this year and one next year. Tim will get the contact information to Dana.
Survey: John McMahon and Nate Gravelle will craft a survey to be sent to the membership regarding alternate meeting locations.
Directorial Voting: Tim Shaughnessy to touch base with Mike Favaloro to confirm that he can act as Boston Director at National Meetings. He will also contact the national offices to verify that he will be receiving voting packages in the future.
Hosting a technical Conference: Ray Miller notified us that the Fall technical conference in 2011 is currently not sponsored. He indicated that it could be in the southeast and Boston could sponsor it. We will continue to investigate this sponsorship as our board had positive discussions regarding sponsorship. Ray will keep us informed as he assumes the conference coordinator position at the national level in July.
Student Poster Selection: The following three topics have been chosen for presentation at SAMPE Boston’s STUDENT NIGHT, planned tentatively for Thursday, September 24th, at the Lowell Beer Works. Principal authors (underlined names) are invited as our guests for dinner, to give a 20-25 minute PowerPoint presentation, and to receive a certificate from the SAMPE International Business Office along with a cash gift.
