Abstract: The photovoltaic industry has seen enormous growth over the past decade, and current energy trends support continued growth in the future. This presentation will begin with an overview of the Photovoltaic industry, followed by an introduction to Evergreen Solar, a manufacturer of STRING RIBBONTM solar products here in Massachusetts. The company's patented, low-cost wafer manufacturing technology will be presented along with cell and panel fabrication processes. Concluding the presentation will be a review of photovoltaic system components, installation factors and economics for the interested homeowner.
Bio: Christine M. Bordonaro is currently Director for Applications Engineering at Evergreen Solar, a manufacturer of STRING RIBBONTM solar power products. She previously served as Manager of Applied Research at Metso Automation. She has also worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a lecturer in the field of materials processing, as a consultant to Bayer Corporation, and as a post-doctoral research associate and research assistant at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She is a graduate of Clarkson University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where she earned master's and doctoral degrees.
