Topics Discussed at the Meeting
1) Election of Officers for 2008-2009.
Congratulations to Nate Gravelle new Co-Chair, Tim Shaughnessy new Sponsor
Chair and John McMahon new Secretary / Webmaster for their election to the
Board.
Bob Singler will serve as former Co-Chair, and David Evans will serve as
former Secretary-Webmaster.
Don Ensign will serve as a new Member-at-Large.
Sharon Elsworth and Mike Favaloro will serve as an Alternate National
Directors.
Mike Novak and Syra Novak will serve as former Sponsor Chair and National
Director.
2) Web page status. David Evans will be working with John McMahon on the web
page.
3) Dana Granville gave the annual treasurer's report. The chapter is in a
good financial position for 2009.
4) Boston SAMPE Sponsors. Instead of collecting sponsor dues intermittently
during the year, we may collect dues once a year in April around the Vendor
Night. This will streamline the bookkeeping and make the collection process
easier to manage.
5)Vendor Night. About 6 questionnaires have come back from the Vendor Night.
Table arrangements were "First Come First Served"
Companies are always looking for a larger audience for their exhibits.
Attendance was marred at the 2008 meeting by superb weather during that day.
The time, 4 8 PM seemed to work out OK, although most activity was between 5
7. Some vendors started to leave around 7:30
6) Meeting Location Meetings will continue to be held at the Lowell Brewery
and the DoubleTree, depending on the event and room availability.
7) Newsletter One suggestion was to highlight new SAMPE members in our
monthly newsletters
This should be fairly easy to do, since we get this information from the
National HQ.
8) Calendar of Events for 2009. We are OK for September, but we still need
speakers and company[s]
to host a tour[s] for 2008 2009. Dana will check in on Evergreen Solar for
a monthly meeting presentation.
Election of Board Officers, Boston Chapter 2008-2009 season
Boston Chapter Executive Board Duties
1.
Chapter Chairman 1 year term Must organize all Chapter Meetings, meet with
parties interested in SAMPE and our Chapter and help the Executive Board make
Chapter decisions.
2. Chapter Co-Chairman Responsible to assist the Chapter Chairman in
the operation of the Chapter and recruit qualified speakers for Chapter
meetings.
3. Treasurer Maintain all finances for the Chapter including
financial reporting at chapter meetings and year end financial reporting to
the SAMPE IBO.
4.
Secretary Maintain Chapter meeting minutes. Produce a Bi-Monthly Chapter
newsletter to be sent by e-mail on the months without a meeting.

Webmaster Maintain Boston SAMPE website, www.bostonsampe.org
6.
Sponsor Chair Maintain contact with each chapter sponsor with goal of
renewing sponsorship annually. Invoice and keep accurate records for each
sponsor. Ensure that each sponsor receives promotion on Boston chapter website
and each issue of Boston chapter newsletter.
7.
National Director 2 year term Must be able to attend the National SAMPE
meetings and the SAMPE Board of Directors Meetings and represent the Boston
Chapter.
8. Alternate National Director 2 year term Must be able to attend
the National SAMPE meetings and the SAMPE Board of Directors Meetings and
represent the Boston Chapter.
9. UML
Faculty Advisor(s) Faculty liaison between Boston SAMPE and UML Plastics and
Engineering Departments
10.UML
Student Chapter Student liaison between Boston SAMPE and UML engineering
students.
11.Member-at-Large - Assist Board members, on an as needed when
available basis, with various tasks necessary to run the chapter events.
